Empathy as a Gift for Others

Empathy is truly a magic power, that we can ignite within, that results in profound gifts for ourselves and others. It is the ability that we have to experience oneness and connection with another human being. Our experience of empathy in relationships is a profound gift for our Loved ones. It is perhaps THE best gift we can give someone we love. And has the power to magically increase intimacy and connection in the relationship.

For empathy to work it’s magic, we need a few ingredients:

In its most magical moments, empathy can heal unresolved issues or unconscious blocks in both the person sharing AND the person listening. In its most powerful application, empathy has the power to release the deepest and darkest shame from within a person.

Empathy as a Source for Our Own Healing

We’ve talked about this a lot… but it’s our judgments that are holding us back from the Loving Relationships that we want. And showing up in empathy with loved ones is another powerful life-changing way to dissolve what’s holding us back.

Consider ANYTIME that we experience moments of hurt, of humanness, of challenge… and also experience connection, loving, closeness, the Spirit… that Loving dissolves and transmutes unresolved issues.

So if a friend is going through a breakup… and you have the courage to really listen, to take the time and to be with, and in a heartfelt way genuinely resonate in that feeling inside of you… as you both connect and share your love and compassion with each other, you both get to heal a little… or maybe even a lot.

Listening to someone empathetically requires that we be vulnerable. It requires that we allow ourselves to feel and relate to what the person sharing is expressing. It requires that we also brave being emotionally exposed.

In doing so however, we are presented with a beautiful gift. As we connect into that feeling in us, and experience loving connection with another, we also have the opportunity to heal, to release and to let go of our unresolved material: to clear karma, imbalance, negativity and disease within us.

When we truly understand the spiritual reality of who we are – as One Energy of Love – all of us together. Not as separate beings… but a part of this One Energy called ‘Love’ – it’s easy to see that as we feel and love together, we heal and grow together.

Empathy is the Antidote to Shame

Shame is an epidemic in our culture. And empathy is the antidote to shame.
