Self-forgiveness is one of the greatest healing tools on the planet. Both for releasing the effect of past experiences on the present, and for allowing us to show up in the most expansive and successful ways in the future.
Self-forgiveness works on the spiritual premise that we’re all doing the very best that we can, with what we know, with where we’ve been, and with all the various influences and variables for that moment. It works in the field of grace, where we acknowledge that learning and growth are far more important than punishment or revenge.
While forgiveness is a profoundly powerful gift to extend to others, it’s most important that we forgive ourselves first, as it’s the judgments and energies we have against ourselves that hold us back from showing up most fully in this life.
Try out this self-forgiveness statement the next time you’re feeling really bad about something: "I forgive myself for buying into the misbelief that..."
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. MAHATMA GANDHI
It might look something like...
I forgive myself for buying into the misbelief that I'm an idiot for saying that. [It's wild how quickly and easily we can find the judgments we're hurting ourselves with... just start saying that sentence and see what comes next...]
I forgive myself for buying into the misbelief that he doesn't love me, even if he is really upset with me right now. [You don't need to think, just let your unconscious speak freely.]
“I forgive myself for buying into the misbelief that ...
…then just finish the rest with whatever comes into your mind as you speak or write.
For example: “I forgive myself for buying into the misbelief that ... I’m not worthy of an amazing fairytale marriage. I forgive myself for buying into the misbelief that ... No one will ever love me as much as I love them.
I forgive myself for buying into the misbelief that ... I’m not organized enough to be wildly successful ...“
Keep doing these statements until you feel the energy lift or Lighten a little ... or a lot.
It’s powerful to complete any session of self-forgiveness with Truth Statements.
“And the truth is that I am ...
…then just finish the rest with whatever comes into your mind as you speak or write.
You’re allowing the love, the goodness, the truth of who you REALLY ARE in these statements. So really allow your loving and compassion present in these.
