Guided Experience 14A • Recovering from Compassion Fatigue

A reflective and restorative practice for moments of deep exhaustion or emotional overwhelm. Helps you turn care inward, replenish your energy, and upgrade your beliefs for deeper self-love and self-care.

You Will Need: Nothing. Just read and feel.

1. Assess Your Energy

On a scale from 0% to 100%, how much energy do you have right now? Not to give others, but how much do you have within you, right now. Where 0% is I’m empty, floored, low and heavy. You’re on the ground. And 100% is I’m full, I feel Light as a feather and I have infinite energy for living and being of service. Write the percentage down.

2. Speak Your Truth

First read the sentence to see if you resonate with the statement. If it feels true for you, say it and feel it’s truth. Give yourself the gift of each sentiment. If you feel a lot of emotion moving as you say one, keep repeating until the emotion lifts or shifts.

The world will not end, if I focus on myself right now.

I cannot give from an empty cup. I am useless, and will become a liability, if I continue to care for others when I am running on, or close to empty.

I deserve to be loved and cared for. I deserve time and attention.

I am important. I am precious. I am valuable.

I have done my best, and while there is more to do, I need to take care of myself right now.

I give myself permission to focus on myself and my needs, feelings and wants for the next 24 hours or longer.

3. Focus On You

Let’s help you focus on you for the next 24 hours or longer. Ask the part of you that feels the most empty the following questions:

What do you want?

What would fill your heart, body and Soul to overflowing?

4. Give to Yourself

Do your best to give yourself what you responded above. Remember you’re not perfect, and you don’t need to do this perfectly either. Start small, and let yourself go from there. At the very least, thank yourself for all you do, and let yourself rest, right now.
