Guided Experience 1 • Creating a Safe, Sacred Space and Your Healing Book

Turn a simple notebook into your personal Healing Book, a space to express, release, and transform, and create your own Safe, Sacred Space in your home that feels grounding and comforting. This practice helps you begin your journey with a sense of safety, intention, and care.

Estimated Time Required: This might five minutes, or five days, or much longer.

1. Get a Blank Book for Writing

Choose a book with blank, lined, or grid pages, whatever feels right to you. A bullet journal works beautifully too. The only requirement is that it’s dedicated to your feeling, grieving, and healing moments. It doesn’t have to be just for pet grief. Let it be your Healing Book—a trusted companion for any moment you want to feel, heal, and reveal.

2. Name Your Healing Book

For years, I called mine “my blue book”—because it was blue, and because I’d pick it up whenever I felt blue. Now, of course, I call it My Blue Healer. You’re welcome to do the same, or choose a name that’s unique and meaningful to you.

3. Make Your Healing Book Special

Make it feel like yours — warm, welcoming, and meaningful. When it feels special, you’ll want to return to it.

4. Get a Pen, Pencil or Writing Instrument

I love the feeling of mechanical pencils, and I love using 2B lead. It’s all personal preference, but get the writing instrument that helps you write easily and freely. And that works well in your healing book.

5. Create Your Safe, Sacred Space

Explore the ideas and inspiration below, and create your own Safe, Sacred Space.

6. It’s Okay to Take Your Time

You might want to keep reading this book and dive into the following guides before you have created your space. Trust yourself and do everything in your own timing and as your heart guides you.

Two of the best friends you’ll have on your grieving and healing journey are your Sacred Safe Space and your Healing Book.

These companions will hold your heart when it feels too heavy, give you somewhere safe to fall apart, and remind you that you are never alone in your process. Let them become anchors of love and presence as you begin the first steps of this journey.
